FishSafe Information Project (FSI)

FLTC Services Limited fund the FSI Project, which provides fishermen with positional information about offshore surface and sub-sea structures and infrastructure in connection with oil and gas activities in U.K. waters. The costs of the project have been supported by substantial grants awarded by the Scottish Ministers and the European Union through their structural funds who are thereby investing in sustainable fisheries.

Kingfisher Information Services is a sub division of the Sea Fish Industry Authority and has worked on several projects over the years to raise awareness and understanding between the oil and gas and fishing industries. Through the FSI project, and in close co-operation with Offshore Energies UK , Kingfisher has promoted the awareness of surface and subsea obstructions.

The main objective of such projects is to disseminate, in both digital (electronic) and paper (chart) formats, accurate positional data on all surface and sea-bed oil & gas installations (eg. platforms, pipelines, wellheads, etc) throughout the UK Continental Shelf. The data is available FREE to all fishing vessels working in the area and is compatible with the most popular fishing plotters including Sodena, Trax, SIS, Microplot, Winfish, Litton Fishmaster, Chartworx/Quodfish, Maxsea, Penta and Transas Navfish 3000 systems. This is a crucial part of FLTC’s charitable objectives.
